drawings of robots

In my Concept Design class, we are working on article layouts. We have to find articles in the news and make an illustration for it. We had to bring in three articles and some thumbnail drawings of our interpretation of it by illustrations. Here are a few sketches of two articles I found: the hacked BurgerKing tweet and a science article about robot-human relationships.

here are my sketches. I showed them to the class and
we tossed around other ideas for illustrations, but my
teacher ultimately chose the robot-human relations
drawing on the bottom

we made the layout in InDesign. First I made the picture
in Photoshop (we already know how I feel about that)
then I "dropped" it in my layout

Here is another version of the picture I
did in Photoshop. I think my teacher is
going to like this one, so I'm just
going to put both in my process
binder to turn in for a grade.

Now I'm listening to records (yes, records, on a turntable) and finishing some homework on this class. I have all the digital stuff done, so I can relax and have fun.

This is great! I can still remember doing things like this in InDesign & Photoshop. Actually my Prof had us do all our lay-out / designing in Photoshop, but in a couple of classes with an adjunct prof, we got to play around with InDesign.

In fact, I can remember we didn't even HAVE InDesign, but he (being a working professional graphic artist who used InDesign) thought we should have it. So he asked us to write letters to the head of the Art Dept begging the school to get InDesign. I don't know how many did --- I did. The next semester, we had InDesign.

I like the second one best BTW. Keep on cranking them out!
